Under the general supervision of the Director of IT, is responsible for

  • leading the planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of assigned clinical information systems across the organization, with targeted focus in the Emergency Department and Operating Room Department
  • functioning as a liaison between IT and Clinical Departments with regards to use, configuration and processes surrounding the use of clinical information systems,
  • facilitating communication from and among the clinical end users across the patient care departments while working collaboratively and directly with the vendors and IT Department members on complex issues,
  • optimizing the clinical design to meet the needs of a large group of interdisciplinary end users, including physicians, nurses, respiratory care practitioners, physical therapists, ancillary, clinical and administrative staff
  • prioritizing and manage clinical information systems-related project teams establishing teamwork through appropriate deployment of process and technology.


Education: Under graduate degree. Accreditation or degree in Nursing or other clinical setting is desirable.

Experience: Minimum of three years working in a clinical IT setting. Prior experience with Allscripts or other clinical information system(s). Demonstrated knowledge of redesigning clinical processes to improve efficiency and patient care, preferably in conjunction with the implementation of a clinical information system preferred.


Lead the planning, evaluation, implementation, training, maintenance of the Clinical Information Systems (CIS).

  • Drives the data collection, cataloguing of current state discovery and policy/procedures for the supported departments.
  • Build and support of the Allscripts EMR applications; including alerts and clinical decision support. Design decisions consider usability and data analytic dimensions.
  • CIS system build and testing (Order Sets, e-forms development, etc) across multiple departments
  • Leads and collaborates with clinical departments in full implementations of new CIS features and optimizing existing CIS functions.
  • Maintains a detailed understanding and working knowledge of the current CIS, its functions and its relationship to other information systems within the enterprise.

Customer Support

  • Improve clinical workflows that are supported by the existing clinical system and determine how best to maximize functionality to complement and improve the workflows.
  • Provides proactive user support of the CIS including, but not limited to, training and education. Handles complex issues and proposes alternate solutions.
  • Maintains relationships with the Nursing, Physician and Clinical communities
  • Builds trust with customers for strong analytic skills and demonstrates willingness to research/test new ideas.

Effective Communication

  • Is concise when conveying technical information to end users. Uses cultural and/or historical references appropriately
  • Demonstrates tact and customer service in all interactions. This includes effective listening techniques, building consensus and handling alternate points of view.  Service is provided to customers and co-workers.
  • Advocates for teamwork. Collaborates well with team members to produce more effective/innovative solutions and coach newer staff to promote culture of teamwork.

Project Manager

  • Translate and Document workflow and system integration issues into software solutions
  • Manage Project plans, schedules, issues and risks for small to medium projects
  • Actively participate on project teams and communicate status on assigned tasks
