  • Overview

    This is a working chef position with many advantages. Your basic responsibility is to prepare and cook dinner or brunch for our formal dining room every day you work.  Prepare and cook meals for assisted living residents (15) nights and weekends, Lunch and Dinner. Our style of cooking is a scratch operation making our own sauces, soups and desserts, thus avoiding higher sodium and additives as used in prepackaged meals.


    You write the menus, (Chef Supervisor reviews and gives input) for the days that you work.


    You will be responsible for supervising all of the dietary staff in the absence of the Chef Supervisor – this staff includes prep cooks, kitchen assistants and wait staff.


    Generally, you work 4 longer days per week (about 10 hours per day) with three days off and every other weekend off.  A typical day would be from 10 am to 8 pm.  Special functions, Holidays and filling in shifts for vacations may require an adjustment of your schedule. 



    Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent

    Experience: Culinary training or proven working ability to produce quality meals. Experience with all aspects of food preparation. Ability to relate well with residents


    Assists Chef Manager

    • Assists in ordering foodstuffs
    • Assists in menu selection and coordination in accordance with dietary requirements of residents in Assisted Living
    • Assists in supervision and training of all kitchen staff


    • Planx and executes menus for independent living dining room on days assigned as chef on duty, assist Chef Manager on special event menus
    • Prepares lunch, evening meals, and Sunday brunch as required

    Minimize Waste

    • Manages food so as to minimize waste


    • Responsible for sanitation of kitchen and storage areas as required
